Day 11 - La Ville-Lumière

When I was younger, I used to travel around to different places such as Italy, tropical islands, Canada, and places around the US. I always liked traveling around visiting the different places because I was able to experience things that I couldn’t in Pennsylvania. Whenever I’ve gone on a vacation, my parents have always decided were we are going to go. I’m actually kind of glad because one, I’ve always liked were they chose to go, and two, I probably wouldn’t be able to decide if I had the choice. As I’ve gotten older, I started to make a bucket list of places that I want to visit one day.

As I mentioned before in one of my earlier posts, I really want to travel to England. As well as England, I would love to visit Paris, La Ville-Lumière aka The City of Lights. I don’t really know why I want to go to Paris, it might be the thought that since I want to go to England, I might as well go to Paris too or because it would just be a fantastic place to go.

If I ever get the chance to go to Paris, the first thing that I would want to do is visit the Eiffel Tower. I would want to go when it was dark so I could see it illuminate the night sky. Also, I want to visit the Louvre Museum in Paris so I can see all the beautiful paintings and sculptures inside. My mom went there once and said she loved it and thought it was so fascinating. When I was a child, I always wanted to see the famous Mona Lisa painting. I once heard that her eyes follow you wherever you go, and as a kid I was very intrigued by this statement and to this day, I still want to find out if it is true. Another thing I want to see is the Arc de Triomphe. Whenever I see pictures of the Arc de Triomphe, I’m always in awe and can’t help but marvel at the beauty of it. I would love to see the intrigue architecture up close and in person if I ever had the chance. As well as wanting to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Arch de Triomphe, there are many other places that I would love to see and experience in Paris.

When I was in elementary school, I used to learn French, but because NFS doesn’t have French as an option, I chose to take Spanish. Although I was very eager to learn French, I had a really bad teacher. It’s unfortunate to say that out of 7 years of learning French, the only things that I can remember how to say are the months and days, how to count up to one hundred, and of course, je m’appelle Mia (my name is Mia). If I were to go to France, I would try and submerge myself in the language so I could hopefully learn new words or phrases to say. Also, the way they speak seems so much more majestic than plain old American accents. It may just be because I’m so used to hearing our accents everyday that I forget how cool it is, but I think that Americans were jipped out of a cool accent.
