Day 2 - Field Hockey

Recently I had a field hockey tournament in Limerick, Pennsylvania with my field hockey team. Even though we didn’t do as well as we hoped, overall I think we improved a lot. As well as the other girls on my team, I think I improved a lot during the tournament too. It made me realize how much I really do enjoy playing field hockey, because no matter how good or bad I play; I still love to do it. With other sports, I can go back and forth deciding whether I like it or not, depending on how well I did. But with field hockey, I always seem to have fun playing. Although there are times that I like it more than others, I never totally dislike it. A dream of mine is to become a better field hockey player. I want to be able to do cool skills with accuracy and speed like I see other people do.

While at the tournament, I had the chance to watch older girls play. You could see the intensity in their eyes and it was clear to see the skill they had. Usually I’m not that interested in watching games that I’m not playing in, but this time I was really into it. I found it really interesting and fun to watch. Although they messed up a few times, it didn’t make me like it any less, it made me feel better. It made me realize that no matter how good you are at something, there’s always room for mistakes to happen. It made me feel more confident because even the high-leveled field hockey players made mistakes, like me.

I thought about how they probably started off like me, and eventually got better and better. I know it didn’t just come to them one day by surprise, but they worked hard and diligently to get to where they are today. I hope that one day I can be like the girls I saw and be an inspiration to others.
